Carol Hartley

Carol has come to painting through her love of gardening and flowers.

Her first inspiration to draw and paint came from her thematic stamp collection which is based on flowers and plants. This prompted her to improve her drawing skill and when her family grew up and became more independent, she took a course at Kingston Maurward College, Dorchester.  There she improved her drawing skills and changed medium from coloured pencil to watercolour.

In 2005 she was accepted as a full member of the Society of Floral Painters and has exhibited with them at Mottisfont Abbey, Hilliers, Compton Acres and Chichester.

Her work has also been exhibited with the Dorset Arts and Craft Association, the Priory in Christchurch and the Society of Botanical Artists, at Westminster Halls, in London.

She attended a course at The English Garden School in Chelsea and gained her Diploma in 2012.

She was invited to join the Hampton Court Palace Florilegium Society in November 2014 and has had her first painting accepted for the Hampton Court Palace Archive.

In February 2016 she exhibited with the RHS in London and was delighted to receive a Silver-Gilt Medal for her entry on Euphorbia for Temperate Gardens.
