Helen Allen

Helen trained originally as a textile designer, graduating from the University of Leeds and as a teacher at Homerton College Cambridge. She is a graduate of the English Gardening School where she was Course Director of botanical painting for 7 years. She now has her own school, the Chelsea School of Botanical Art based in the Chelsea Physic Garden.

She has exhibited at Ebury Galleries, The Garden Museum, Chelsea Physic Garden, Hortus, Hampton Court Palace and Shirley Sherwood Gallery in London; Ursus Gallery and Brooklyn Botanical Garden, New York, the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation and at Chicago Botanical Garden, USA.

Helen’s work is in the Highgrove Florilegium and also the archives of the Hunt Institute, Royal Botanic Gardens Collection at Kew, Chelsea Physic Garden and Hampton Court Palace. She is a Fellow of Hampton Court Palace and Chelsea Physic Garden Florilegium Societies. Helen was involved and has work in the Highgrove Florilegium and has managed the compilation of the Transylvania Florilegium in which her work will also appear.
