Lizabeth Leech

Liz’s life has always centred round plants.  With an Honours Degree in Botany from Exeter University, and a research-based Masters Degree in Ecological Botany from the University of Melbourne, Liz is an enthusiastic and experienced teacher who has taught Botany, Zoology and Biology to generations of grammar school pupils. She has also taught Field Botany at Flatford Mill Field Centre, and latterly Botany courses for Botanical Artists at West Dean College, Wisley, Juniper Hall (FSC), Regional Botanical Art Societies, IAPI meetings, Chelsea Physic Garden Florilegium and the Hampton Court Palace Florilegium Society, where she is a Founder Member and the botanical advisor.

After years of untrained attempts to paint flowers, Liz joined Anne-Marie Evans’  Diploma Course in Botanical Painting (at the EGS) and gained her Diploma in 2002. She has since exhibited her work at several different venues and was included in RHS Exhibition 2009 (HCPFS Group exhibit silver medal award).

She is the author of “Botany for Artists, 2011” and “The Artists Handbook of Botany, 2023″.
